Nursery Spring Term newsletter 2017

Dear Parents/Carers

Welcome back to Nursery! We hope you and your children had a lovely Christmas and New Year, and are looking forward to the exciting half-term that lies ahead.

TOPIC

Our topic for this half-term is “Winter”. We have some lovely activities planned for the next few weeks, including exploring hot and cold, the weather (hopefully with some real snow!), and looking after animals in the winter. Our books for this topic include “The Magic Sky” and “Lost and Found”, both of which will be available for the children to take home to share with you if they would like.

Nursery Autumn Term newsletter 2016

Dear Parent/Guardian,

A very warm welcome to Nursery! I hope you and your children had a lovely summer and are looking forward to the exciting first half-term that lies ahead.

TOPIC

This half term our topic is OURSELVES. During the first few weeks we will be getting to know the children and helping them to make lots of new friends. We will be settling them into our Nursery routines, helping them to gain confidence coming into school, and to have a happy time exploring, playing and learning in their new environment.

As part of our topic the children will be learning about families, birthdays and special occasions. Later in the term, we will be learning about Harvest and looking at ‘The Enormous Turnip’. We will be sharing lots of stories together, and this half term will particularly focus on the books ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’ and ‘Owl Babies’.

We understand that your child may need to have a comforter with them in the first few weeks, but we ask that they stay in book-bags unless needed to keep them safe. We sometimes ask children to bring in items from home related to our topics, but unless this is the case, could we please ask the children to keep their lovely toys at home – we have plenty of wonderful things for them here.

Nursery Summer Term newsletter 2016

Dear Parent/Guardian,

Welcome back to Nursery!  I hope you and your children had a lovely Easter, and are looking forward to the exciting Summer term that lies ahead.    I can’t quite believe that the year is nearly over, and your child will soon be making the transition into Reception – how time flies!

TOPICS

Summer term brings lots of exciting events, including Sports Day (lots of practising!) and the never-to-be-missed annual school trip (more details on both to follow).  We also have a wonderful selection of topics in mind for this final term.  As the weather warms up, we will be investigating both “Mini Beasts” and “Growing”, so lots of time outside.  We also look at the Seaside, and later in the term have a “Pirates and Mermaids” Day as part of this.

PARENT ROTAS

Our Parent Rotas have now been put up.  Please sign up if you are able to pop in for a session.  Your help is always greatly appreciated, whether you enjoy playing with the children or carrying out some preparation jobs for us (there is always plenty to do!).  The children love having adults come in, particularly dads and granddads, and will really enjoy your company.  For these one-off sessions, there is no need to complete a Police Check (CRB) form, although if you come in more frequently, you will need to fill out a form (available from the office).

PE

This term the Nursery children will continue to have a PE session in the Hall on a FRIDAY. Children should come in on Fridays in their school polo shirt and sweatshirt, jogging bottoms and shoes or trainers (velcro fastenings if possible please). Socks and shoes are removed for PE so please ensure that all clothes are named.  Some of the children are getting very efficient at taking their shoes and socks off and putting them back on again, so keep up the practising at home!  For health and safety reasons, long hair should be tied back and earrings removed.

Dear Parent/Guardian,

Welcome back to Nursery! I hope you and your children had a lovely Christmas and New Year, and are looking forward to the exciting half-term that lies ahead.

TOPIC
We have some lovely topics planned for the first few weeks of this half term, starting off with our LOOKING AFTER ANIMALS topic. We will be learning all about how to look after a pet - so any vets, veterinary nurses, dog-groomers or parents with other animal-related jobs, please let us know as I am sure the children would love to hear about your work! We will be finding out how wild animals cope with the cold weather, and giving them a helping hand with some tasty treats. We will also be learning about WINTER, and perhaps we might be lucky enough to get some real snow to explore – just a little sprinkling though!

Our books for this topic include “The Magic Sky” and “Lost and Found”, both of which will be available for the children to take home to share with you if they would like.

LEARNING JOURNEYS
We hope that you have had a chance recently to look at your child’s Learning Journey. They are a lovely record of their achievements and progress. It would be super to have your input for these, so please feel free to take one of our ‘Nursery Stars’ to share your child’s news from home.

LEARNING JOURNEYS
Every child in Nursery has their own Learning Journey. This is a record of their achievements and progress, and will include photos, observations and recorded comments. These will be left in marked boxes in the Nursery Foyer for you to look at whenever you get a chance. The children love to share them with you.

We are always delighted to share your children’s achievements outside school. In the Nursery foyer you will find some ‘Nursery Stars’. Please feel free to take one of these to
share your child’s news – whether it is swimming in the big pool for the first time or trying a new food. These can be added to and form a valuable part of their Learning
Journey.

VOLUNTARY CONTRIBUTIONS
To enable us to purchase cooking ingredients, special snack time treats and extra resources to enhance the children’s learning we ask for a voluntary contribution of £1 per week. There is a plastic money box just inside Nursery door. Thank you in advance.
